Overview

We have already planned or delivered £100m savings to our Adult Social Care and Health budget between 2011/12 and 2019/20. However, we still face significant savings challenges and the difference between our funding and what we need is £68m. In order to identify ways to provide services more efficiently and help manage the Council’s budget pressures, we undertake regular service reviews to consider ways in which the provision of social care and support to adult service users in Nottinghamshire might be improved.

The Care Act 2014 brought in a revised legal framework which covers many areas, including the assessment of the financial contributions people pay towards their care and support. As a result we have been looking at what changes we could make to our current arrangements. Some of the possible changes suggested below have the potential to reduce costs, allowing us to reduce or increase support in other areas. Others may be more efficient, less time-consuming and fairer.
