Overview

The Nottinghamshire Historic Environment Record (HER - formerly known as the Sites and Monuments Record) is a source of information on archaeological sites and finds, historic buildings and historic landscapes in Nottinghamshire. The HER contains over 26,000 records for Nottinghamshire linked to an archive of photographs, building slides, archaeological reports, and historic maps.

It is an essential tool for assessing the impact of development proposals, as recommended in national planning guidance. We are also a resource for the public to assist with research projects and answer any questions about the historic buildings and archaeology in Nottinghamshire.
