Overview

We are seeking the views and comments from interested parties about a proposal to alter the age range and enlarge the premises of Huthwaite All Saints Church of England Voluntary Aided Infant and Pre-School and for the school to become a through primary school.

The Governing Body of Huthwaite All Saints Church of England Voluntary Aided Infant and Pre-School and the  County Council propose to:-

  • Alter the age range of Huthwaite All Saints Church of England Voluntary Aided Infant and Pre-School from 2 – 7 years, to become a through primary school named All Saints Church of England (Aided) Primary School, catering for children aged 2 – 11 years from 1st September 2021.
     
  • Enlarge the premises of Huthwaite All Saints Church of England Voluntary Aided Infant and Pre-School.  From September 2021 the school will operate across two sites:-
     
    Key Stage 1 and Foundation (Reception and Nursery) classes will be accommodated in a new additional site (currently known as the All Saints Centre, Common Road, Huthwaite) which is situated 100 metres from the existing school buildings. 
     
    Key Stage 2 classes will be accommodated in the existing All Saints Infant and Pre-School building on Common Road.

Consultation

This proposal is at a formative stage and no final decisions have yet been made. 

This consultation process is designed to establish the views of:  parents and carers, pupils, governors, staff, the local community and other interested parties in respect of the above proposal.

Outcome of the consultation

On the 20th May 2019, the Children and Young People’s Committee of NCC approved the proposals of Governing Bodies of both schools and of  the County Council to:

  • Change  the age range of All Saints  Infant School in order for it to become a one form entry primary school
  • Alter the admission arrangements which formally link All Saints CE Infant School with Woodland View Primary School.
  • Reason: Projections indicate that from September 2020 there is a growing shortage of places in Huthwaite which becomes acute from September 2021. All Saints CE Infant School is popular and over-subscribed. A feasibility study has  been commissioned to establish the viability of options that will deliver additional primary places in Huthwaite.  Among options to be considered, is one to develop a Key Stage 2 (junior age children) facility with a suitably sized playing field, hall, off-street parking and pre-school that would enlarge the premises of All Saints Infant School, converting it into a primary school.
