Due to the considerable pressure in Nottinghamshire to find additional special school places at the current time, it is proposed to open a  satellite special school provision that will be based in three of the surplus classrooms on the site of King Edward Primary and Nursery School site in Mansfield. The satellite special school will be part of, and managed by, Carlton Digby Special School, which was classified as an ‘Outstanding Special School’ by Ofsted in 2020.

All the children and young people who attend the Satellite School will be on the roll of Carlton Digby Special School and the admissions process will be via the normal consultation process between the Integrated Children & Disability Team and the school.

It not anticipated that this proposal will have any adverse effect on any other schools or educational establishments in the locality and there will continue to be places at King Edward Primary and Nursery School to meet the projected need for mainstream school places in the future.
