ABBOTT ROAD, MANSFIELD – PROPOSED WAITING RESTRICTIONS & BUS STOP CLEARWAYS– (TRO 2283) – STAGE 2 CONSULTATION
Overview
Via East Midlands Ltd is working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council to deliver highway services in Nottinghamshire. Nottinghamshire County Council has received complaints of obstructive and inconsiderate parking along Abbott Road which is causing visibility issues and forcing vehicles on to the wrong side of the road.
Further to the initial consultation letter of 18th March 2025, the next stage of the consultation is to publicly advertise the scheme. The notice will be published in the Mansfield and Ashfield Chad and notices will be fixed on site. A plan showing the extents of the proposed waiting restrictions (Double Yellow Lines) and Bus stop Clearways is attached (Drawing Number H/JC/4957/01) along with a copy of the site notice.
The County Council works closely with all public transport operators across the County to identify bus stops that suffer from inconsiderate parking. At the location above a bus stop clearway is to be installed that prohibits other vehicles from parking or waiting in the bus stops at the times specified and these will be clearly identified with new road markings and signage. The main benefits of bus stop clearways is to:
• Help the bus align with the kerb to enable better access for disabled passengers and pushchair users;
• Ease congestion as a correctly aligned bus will not block the road for other road users;
• Ensure that bus drivers discharge their duty to drop passengers off on the kerb and not on the road;
• Ensure that bus services operate on time and are not unnecessarily delayed.
