ARNOT HILL ROAD, ARNOLD/THACKERAY'S LANE, WOODTHORPE - PROPOSED PUFFIN CROSSING

Overview

Via East Midlands Ltd is working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council to deliver highway services in Nottinghamshire. Nottinghamshire County Council have received requests to install a puffin crossing on Arnot Hill Road, Arnold/Thackeray’s Lane, Woodthorpe, between Sandfield Road, Arnold and Wadham Road, Woodthorpe, which will make it safer for pedestrians crossing this busy road, especially in peak traffic times. A pedestrian survey was undertaken and indicated many movements across this road, given the high volume of traffic and the character of the road, it is considered appropriate to propose a puffin crossing at this location.

The proposed puffin crossing, will have a controlled area, indicated by lengths of zig-zag lines where parking, stopping and loading would be prohibited at all times.

As required under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (puffin crossing), I hereby enclose for your attention the statutory public notice stating the County Council’s intention to introduce the puffin crossing on Arnot Hill Road/Thackeray's Lane.

The notice will be published in the Nottingham Post and notices will be fixed on site. A plan showing the proposed crossing is attached (Drawing Number TP2450585/TS105) along with a copy of the site notice.

Any objections should clearly state the reasons for the objections and should reach us in writing, either by letter or email, by Wednesday 24th June 2026. If the objection cannot be resolved, it will be reported through the County Council’s procedures at the appropriate time.
