AS0378 PROPOSED BUS STOP CLEARWAY RELOCATION - BROOMHILL ROAD, HUCKNALL

Closed 15 Jan 2024

Opened 18 Dec 2023

Overview

Via East Midlands Ltd, working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council proposes to amend the existing bus stop clearway marking on Broomhill Road, Hucknall, located outside Havana House. The new bus stop will be approximately 23 metres, in a north-easterly direction, further along Broomhill Road than the existing bus stop location. The new position will ensure that pedestrians waiting at the new zebra crossing will not be obscured by a waiting bus. The proposed new clearway will prohibit stopping by all vehicles, except buses and will be in force at all times. The location of the new marking is shown on the attached drawing H/JAB/4236/106. If you have any comments/objections on the new location of the bus stop clearway then please reply by letter or e-mail, details below.

The County Council works closely with all public transport operators across the County to identify bus stops that suffer from inconsiderate parking. At the locations listed above, bus stop clearways are to be installed that prohibit other vehicles from parking or waiting in the bus stop at the times specified and these will be clearly identified with new road markings and signage. The main benefits of bus stop clearways are to:

  • Help the bus align with the kerb to enable better access for disabled passengers and pushchair users;
  • Ease congestion as a correctly aligned bus will not block the road for other road users;
  • Ensure that bus drivers discharge their duty to drop passengers off on the kerb and not on the road;
  • Ensure that bus services operate on time and are not unnecessarily delayed.
