BA0742 - CARLTON ROAD, WORKSOP - PROPOSED RELOCATION OF BUS STOP - PUBLIC ADVERT

Overview

Concerns have been raised that the footway at the existing Bus Stop BA0742 is too narrow, making it difficult for  passengers to safely wait for the bus, and for pedestrians trying to pass those that are waiting. It is therefore proposed to relocate this bus stop to the south, outside of Beech House Care Home. At the same time a new bus stop clearway is proposed which will prohibit other vehicles from parking or waiting in the bus stop. This will be clearly identified with new road markings and signage. The main benefits of bus stop clearways are to:

• Help the bus align with the kerb to enable better access for disabled passengers and pushchair users;
• Ease congestion as a correctly aligned bus will not block the road for other road users;
• Ensure that bus drivers discharge their duty to drop passengers off on the kerb and not on the road;

Ensure that bus services operate on time and are not unnecessarily delayed.
