MABEL GROVE, RADCLIFFE ROAD AND RUTLAND ROAD, WEST BRIDGFORD – PROPOSED PARKING RESTRICTIONS (TRO 8403) – PROPOSED TOUCAN CROSSING – PROPOSED RAISED PLATEAUS - STAGE 2 CONSULTATION

Closes 19 Nov 2025

Opened 16 Oct 2025

Overview

Via East Midlands Ltd is working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council to deliver highway services in Nottinghamshire. As you may be aware, Nottingham City Council are currently constructing a new pedestrian/cycle bridge over the River Trent which will significantly reduce journey times and distances for those modes of travel.  The County Council has been allocated £3.25m through the Transforming Cities Fund (TCF) to improve strategic connection to and from the new bridge crossing. It is therefore proposed to refurbish the existing Toucan Crossing, to include a controlled area, indicated by zig-zag markings, along the carriageway where parking and loading will be prohibited.

As required under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (crossing), I enclose the statutory public notice, which states the County Council’s intention to introduce the toucan crossing on Radcliffe Road, West Bridgford.

To increase traffic safety at the junction of Mabel Grove and Rutland Road, West Bridgford, it is proposed to install a raised plateau on Mabel Grove, which will be 15m long and have a 75mm high flat-topped hump (plateau). On Rutland Road, a further raised plateau will be installed, being 19m long and having a 75mm high flat-topped hump (plateau).

To prevent parking on the approach to each plateau, it is proposed to extend ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restrictions (double yellow lines) on Mabel Grove and Rutland Road, West Bridgford.

The proposals are shown on the attached drawings TP2450565 -VIA-HGN-ZZ-DR-CH-0150 and TP2450565 -VIA-HGN-ZZ-DR-CH-0151.
