MAIN ROAD AND NOTTINGHAM ROAD, RADCLIFFE ON TRENT - PROHIBITION OF WAITING AND BUS STOP CLEARWAYS (8393) – FORMAL ADVERT

Closes 19 Feb 2025

Opened 22 Jan 2025

Overview

Via East Midlands Ltd is working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council to deliver highway services in Nottinghamshire.

Further to the initial consultation letter of 15th November 2024, the next stage of the consultation is to publicly advertise the scheme. The advert will be published in the Nottingham Post and notices will be fixed on site. A plan showing the extents of the proposed ‘No Waiting At Any Time’ restrictions (Double Yellow Lines) and the extents of the proposed bus stop clearways (No Stopping At Any Time, Except Buses) are attached (Drawing Number H/FR/4798/01) along with a copy of the site notice.

The County Council works closely with all public transport operators across the County to identify bus stops that suffer from inconsiderate parking. At Main Road and Nottingham Road, bus stop clearways are proposed that prohibits other vehicles from parking At Any Time at those bus stop, this will be clearly identified with new road markings and signage. The main benefits of bus stop clearways are to:

  • Help the bus align with the kerb to enable better access for disabled passengers and pushchair users;
  • Ease congestion as a correctly aligned bus will not block the road for other road users;
  • Ensure that bus drivers discharge their duty to drop passengers off on the kerb and not on the road;
  • Ensure that bus services operate on time and are not unnecessarily delayed.
