Nottingham Road, Gotham - Proposed Bus Stop Improvements
Overview
Via East Midlands Ltd, is working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council to deliver highway services to Nottinghamshire. As part of some wider highway improvements, concerns have been raised about the accessibility of the bus stops for pedestrians, and buses being unable to properly use the stops due to parked vehicles.
We propose to install and create a new enforceable bus stop clearway and install a new bus stop pole due to help solve these issues. The main benefits of bus stop clearways are to: help the bus align with the kerb to enable better access for disabled passengers and pushchair users; ease congestion as a correctly aligned bus will not block the road for other road users; ensure that bus drivers discharge their duty to drop passengers off on the kerb and not on the road; ensure that bus services operate on time and are not unnecessarily delayed. A plan of the proposed improvements can be seen on drawing number H/JC/5101/01.
