Shelford Road and Wollaton Avenue, Gedling
Overview
Via East Midlands Ltd is working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council to deliver highway services in Nottinghamshire. Concerns have been raised about inconsiderate and obstructive parking at the Junction of Shelford Road and Wollaton Avenue, Gedling. This reduces visibility and access for drivers and pedestrians using the junction.
Concerns have also been raised about the accessibility of bus stop GE0861 for pedestrians, and buses being unable to properly use the stop due to parked vehicles. It is therefore proposed to introduce double yellow lines around the junction, as well as a new enforceable bus stop clearway, which will prohibit other vehicles from parking or waiting in the bus stop at any time. This will be clearly identified with new road markings and signage. The extent of restrictions can be seen on drawing number H/TS/5212/01.The advert will be published in the Nottingham Post and notices will be displayed on site. The main benefits of bus stop clearways are to:
- Help the bus align with the kerb to enable better access for disabled passengers and pushchair users
- Ease congestion as a correctly aligned bus will not block the road for other road users;
- Ensure that bus drivers discharge their duty to drop passengers off on the kerb and not on the road;
- Ensure that bus services operate on time and are not unnecessarily delayed.
Any objections should clearly state the reasons for the objections and should reach us in writing, either by letter or email, by 30th October 2025. If the objection cannot be resolved, it will be reported through the County Council’s procedures at the appropriate time.
