THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (BASSETLAW AREA –BYWAYS AT HAYTON, NORTH LEVERTON AND STURTON LE STEEPLE) (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2022 (1271)

Closed 2 Mar 2022

Opened 27 Jan 2022

Overview

To reduce the deterioration of these routes, due to heavy usage, and potential risks to those using these byways, it is proposed to install gates restricting access. Pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders would still be able to use these routes at all times.  This restriction is considered necessary to effectively manage the network and to safeguard future access.

A Traffic Regulation Order will be introduced to restrict access to the following routes at all times:

Hayton BOAT10 (Hayton Byway) - closed to all motorised traffic (except solo motor cycles) and also to horse drawn vehicles.

Restricted Byway 25 (Coates Lane), Cottam and North Leverton and Habblesthorpe - closed to all motorised traffic and also to horse drawn vehicles.

Restricted Byway 31 (Freeman’s Lane and Spring Lane), Sturton le Steeple – closed to all motorised traffic.  Access for horse drawn vehicles retained via a Kent carriage gap.

Restricted Byway 32 (Cross Common Lane), Sturton le Steeple – closed to all motorised traffic.  Access for horse drawn vehicles retained via a Kent carriage gap.

The affected byways are shown on the attached plans and site notice. The byways will be closed by means of a locked gate. Keys would be available to landowners requiring access off the byway.
