TRO 1339 ADVERT - BRINSLEY WAY, BIRCOTES - PROHIBITION OF WAITING, BUS STOP CLEARWAYS AND PROVISION OF TRAFFIC CALMING

Overview

Via East Midlands Ltd, working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council to deliver highway services across Nottinghamshire, has received an application for the introduction of various traffic management measures associated with the Simpson Park Development on Brinsley Way, Bircotes.

The proposed measures include the introduction of Double Yellow Lines (No Waiting at Any Time) and the installation of six 75mm-high raised traffic calming humps. These measures are designed to support the safe operation of the new development, maintain visibility and access, and ensure the effective movement of traffic throughout the area.

In addition, four new enforceable bus stop clearways will be implemented. These will prohibit other vehicles from parking or waiting within the bus stops at any time and will be clearly identified with new road markings and signage.

The full extent of the proposed restrictions is shown on drawing H/CLW/5271/01. The associated legal advertisement will be published in the Worksop Guardian, and public notices will be displayed on site.

The main benefits of bus stop clearways are to:

  • Help the bus align with the kerb to enable better access for disabled passengers and pushchair users;
  • Ease congestion as a correctly aligned bus will not block the road for other road users;
  • Ensure that bus drivers discharge their duty to drop passengers off on the kerb and not on the road;
  • Ensure that bus services operate on time and are not unnecessarily delayed.

Any objections should clearly state the reasons for the objections and should reach us in writing, either by letter or email, by 27th March 2026. If the objection cannot be resolved, it will be reported through the County Council’s procedures at the appropriate time.
