TRO 3408 ADVERT - PARK LANE, SOUTHWELL - PROPOSED EXPERIMENTAL PROHIBITION OF DRIVING
Overview
Works to close Park Lane, Southwell is planned for week commencing 16th March 2026 and includes the installation of a central timber planter and two water filled barriers at each end which will physically prevent vehicles travelling along Park Lane, Southwell.
Advance Warning Signs informing drivers of the pending road closure of Park Lane, Southwell will be installed at its junctions with Brackenhurst Lane and Nottingham Road. Prohibition of Driving Signs will be installed at the closure point on both approaches, as shown on drawings H/SLW/5072/03 and 04.
Park Lane will be closed on a trial basis, for a period of up to 18 months from 16th March 2026. The effects of the scheme will be monitored, with evaluation being carried out during the first 12 months of this period. This will enable the County Council to gather further traffic data and people’s views of the scheme to determine the impact of the changes on routes within the area. A decision will then be taken to amend, remove or make the restriction permanent.
Written objections to the scheme can be made during the first six months of the experimental order being made and these would be considered using the same process agreed for the introduction of permanent traffic regulation orders.
Any objections to the experimental prohibition of driving, specifying the grounds on which they are made, should be sent in writing before 16th September 2026 using the e-mail or postal address at the bottom of the letter. If the objection cannot be resolved, it will be reported through the County Council’s procedures at the appropriate time.
