TRO 3417 ACVERT - HAMILTON ROAD, SUTTON IN ASHFIELD - PROPOSED 20 M.P.H SPEED LIMIT

Overview

Via East Midlands Ltd is working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council to deliver highway services.  Nottinghamshire County Council has been successful in securing funding from the Government’s Active Travel Fund for improvements to Hamilton Road between Coxmoor Road and Newark Road.  The works will include carriageway and footway resurfacing and improvements such as new dropped kerbs. The route is currently subject to drainage issues, which will be addressed part of the scheme by providing better kerbing to channel surface water, and additional surface water drains, subject to approval from Severn Trent Water.  On-street parking bays and existing lining will be formalised, a short stretch of single-yellow line (No Waiting Monday to Saturday 9am – 5pm) introduced to help traffic flow along the route and new double yellow lines laid in the turning head.  The scheme also includes a proposal to reduce the speed limit to 20mph to provide a better environment for pedestrians and cyclists.  The proposals are detailed on the enclosed plans H/CLW/5184/01 and H/CLW/5074/01.

The County Council secured funding to deliver the scheme through the Active Travel Fund, the funding can only be used for schemes which look to encourage active travel such as walking, wheeling and cycling.  This scheme also encompasses the County Council’s ‘whole road’ approach and therefore the proposed improvements will benefit all Highway users.
