TRO 8346A HOLME PIERREPONT BYWAY NO 13 - PROPOSED PROHIBITION OF DRIVING

Closed 30 Dec 2022

Opened 9 Dec 2022

Overview

Following our previous consultation (8346 - Advert dated 31/08/22), it has been noted that at present Byway 13 is not designated as a restricted Byway but as a byway open to all traffic.  Additionally, it has been clarified that the reason for the implementation of the prohibition of driving is that National Highways have determined that it is unsafe for vehicular traffic to access the A52 from the byway and as such, vehicular access along the byway should no longer be permitted.

Accordingly, in the interests of highway safety, the County Council is proposing to make an order prohibiting the public from driving along Holme Pierrepont Byway Open to All Traffic No. 13, closing the byway to public use in all vehicles other than pedal-cycles.  As such, the byway will remain open for use by walkers, horse riders and pedal-cyclists.  To prevent vehicles accessing the A52, the byway would be closed with bollards at its junction with A52 Radcliffe Road and south of ‘The Rectory’.  This barrier would physically prevent the route being used by motor vehicles, whilst maintaining a through-route for pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians.

The proposals will be re-advertised, and new notices displayed on site.
