TRO 8384 ADVERT - MARKET PLACE BINGHAM - PROPOSED CHANGES TO PARKING RESTRICTIONS
Overview
Following a comprehensive parking survey in Bingham jointly undertaken by Rushcliffe Borough Council and Nottinghamshire County Council in 2023, a frequent issue that arose was a lack of short-term spaces for shoppers close to the town centre. For a town the size of Bingham, typically parking would be available to provide easy access to the core area for short periods that in turn enables most visits to local shops to be carried out. If longer visits are required there are many options within the off-street car parks due in part to long-stay parking from workers that fill most available spaces early each day. This mix of spaces is essential to support the economic vitality of the town centre in the future. Currently, around the town centre the only spaces are for 2 hours, and the surveys showed that the turnover in these spaces was low throughout the day thus reducing the parking opportunities available for all visitors.
In order to help alleviate these problems, it is proposed to introduce the following changes:-
Church Street, Market Place and Market Street
- Convert the existing 2 hours parking bays into 30 minutes parking, no return within 1 hour
- Convert the existing unrestricted Disabled Parking Bays into 3 hours maximum Disabled Parking
