WEST STREET AND WOOD LANE AREA, HUCKNALL - PROHIBITON OF WAITING AND BUS STOP CLEARWAYS (TRO4307) – PUBLIC ADVERT
Overview
Via East Midlands Ltd is working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council to deliver highway services in Nottinghamshire.
Further to the third initial consultation letter of 3rd December 2024, the next stage of the consultation is to publicly advertise the scheme. The advert will be published in the Nottingham Post and notices will be fixed on site. A plan showing the proposed new enforceable 19 metre Bus Stop Clearways to be in operation between 7am-7pm and the extents of the ‘No Waiting At Any Time’ restrictions (Double Yellow Lines), and “No Waiting 7am-7pm” (Single Yellow Lines) are attached (Drawing Number H/FR/4514/05/D) along with a copy of the Site Notice.
The County Council works closely with all public transport operators across the County to identify bus stops that suffer from inconsiderate parking. At Wood Lane, two bus stop clearways are proposed that prohibit other vehicles from parking between 7am and 7pm at these bus stops, these will be clearly identified with new road markings and signage. The main benefits of bus stop clearways are to:
- Help the bus align with the kerb to enable better access for disabled passengers and pushchair users;
- Ease congestion as a correctly aligned bus will not block the road for other road users;
- Ensure that bus drivers discharge their duty to drop passengers off on the kerb and not on the road;
- Ensure that bus services operate on time and are not unnecessarily delayed.
