B6018 CHURCH STREET, KIRKBY IN ASHFIELD – PROPOSED PROHIBITION OF WAITING RESTRICTIONS (TRO 4324) – PROPOSED 19M BUS STOP CLEARWAY (NO STOPPING AT ANY TIME EXCEPT BUSES) – PUBLIC ADVERT
Overview
Via East Midlands Ltd, is working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council to deliver highway services in Nottinghamshire. In order to fulfil planning conditions for the redevelopment and change of use of No 8 Church Street, Kirkby in Ashfield, it is proposed to introduce ‘No Waiting At Any Time’ restrictions (Double Yellow Lines) along B6018 Church Street, Kirkby in Ashfield, as shown on drawing number H/JDC/5285/01. The advert will be published in the Mansfield and Ashfield Chad and notices will be displayed on site.
Please note that as part of the planning permission to which this TRO relates to, a parking stress survey was undertaken which demonstrated very little on-street parking demand and there is a strong justification as to why the proposals will not impact the parking capacity.
It is also proposed to create an enforceable 19 metre bus stop clearway ‘No stopping except buses’ - B6108 Church Street, Kirkby in Ashfield (AS0028).
The County Council works closely with all public transport operators across the County to identify bus stops that suffer from inconsiderate parking. At the locations listed above, new bus stop poles and bus stop clearways are to be installed to help serve the new housing development. This will prohibit other vehicles from parking or waiting in the bus stops at any time and will be clearly identified with new road markings and signage. The main benefits of the bus stop clearways are to:
- Help the bus align with the kerb to enable better access for disabled passengers and pushchair users;
- Ease congestion as a correctly aligned bus will not block the road for other road users;
- Ensure that bus drivers discharge their duty to drop passengers off on the kerb and not on the road;
- Ensure that bus services operate on time and are not unnecessarily delayed.
