GILT HILL, KIMBERLEY - PROPOSED RELOCATION OF BUS STOP CLEARWAY

Overview

Following the installation of the new puffin crossing, Via East Midlands Ltd, working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council, proposes to relocate the existing bus stop clearway. The proposed relocation will provide additional footway width to accommodate the new bus shelter and improve pedestrian movement past the stop. The change will also enhance bus accessibility and ensure that stopping and boarding activities can be carried out safely and efficiently, as shown on the attached plan.

No Stopping At Any Time, except buses - 19 metre clearway: -

• Gilt Hill, Kimberley – the north-east side.

The relocation of the bus stop clearway on the live carriageway will be enforceable, which will prohibit other vehicles from parking or waiting in the bus stop at any time. This will be clearly identified with new road markings and signage. The main benefits of bus stop clearways are to:

• Help the bus align with the kerb to enable better access for disabled passengers and pushchair users.
• Ease congestion as a correctly aligned bus will not block the road for other road users.
• Ensure that bus drivers discharge their duty to drop passengers off on the kerb and not on the road.
• Ensure that bus services operate on time and are not unnecessarily delayed.
