Health Centre, Hucknall - Proposed Bus Stop Pole and Clearway Location
Overview
Via East Midlands Ltd, is working on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council to deliver highway services in Nottinghamshire. Concerns have been raised about the accessibility of bus stops for pedestrians, and buses being unable to properly use the stops or align with the boarding kerbs due to parked vehicles on Watnall Road in Hucknall.
To address this issue, it is therefore proposed to reduce the parking bay along the road and install an enforceable 15 metre bus stop clearway as shown on drawing number H/NG/5334/02. This will prohibit other vehicles from parking or waiting in the bus stops at any time which will be clearly identified with new road markings and signage. The main benefits of bus stop clearways are to:
- Help the bus align with the kerb to enable better access for disabled passengers and pushchair users;
- Ease congestion as a correctly aligned bus will not block the road for other road users;
- Ensure that bus drivers discharge their duty to drop passengers off on the kerb and not on the road;
- Ensure that bus services operate on time and are not unnecessarily delayed
This activity will open on 27 May 2026.
