Electric vehicle charging and virtual reality consultation
Overview
Nottinghamshire County Council is exploring how virtual reality (VR) could help residents understand plans for electric vehicle (EV) charging in the community. This consultation asks about your experience of EVs and public charging, what information matters to you and how you prefer to receive updates on this topic.
The consultation should take around 5 - 10 minutes to complete. You do not need to own or plan to buy an EV, and you do not need any previous experience of VR.
At the end of the consultation, you can express your interest in joining a focus group at County Hall to explore the virtual reality experience in more detail.
As part of this project, we are working with Nottingham Trent University and Nottingham-based VR specialist Mesh Training Ltd to explore whether VR can help people better understand and engage with plans for public EV charging. Mesh Training Ltd has created a life-size virtual street scene showing how on-street chargepoints and related features could look in a local area.
Feedback from the focus group will help us assess how useful and accessible this approach is, whether it improves understanding or changes perceptions, and how VR could support future conversations about EV charging in Nottinghamshire.
